1. Select the right Realtor
Interview a minimum of 2 Realtors before you start the process. They both should have a similar idea of what your home should be priced at. Make sure you ask how they excite all the other Realtors to show and sell your home! Marketing is important!
2. Take your Realtors advice on how to prep your home for showings
Realtors spend a lot of time in many different types of homes, they know what shows well and what doesn’t. If your Realtor is making a suggestion, it is a good idea to keep an open mind!
3. Don't over price or under sell...
This can be tricky to understand. If you over price your home, because you want your home to sell for X$ which is more then what the market suggests, you will lose the interest of buyers fast. But on the other hand, do not price your home as if it’s worth nothing just to gain interest. A great Realtor will know what price point will get you the best type of action for your property.
4. Know where you might go BEFORE you sell (but don't buy before you sell...)
A lot of Sellers are too eager to get their home sold and haven’t spent enough time on where they are wanting to go. It’s always best to start searching for the place to move before you've sold. BUT! Don't buy before you sell, having the risk of two properties can be daunting and stressful, trust your Realtor to guide you through this timely process.
